Some of the different types of\u00a0carpenter\u00a0include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rough\u00a0carpenter: Framing,\u00a0formwork,\u00a0roofing\u00a0and other\u00a0structural\u00a0work.<\/li>\n<li>Joister: Lays\u00a0floor\u00a0joists\u00a0onto which a\u00a0floor surface\u00a0is fixed.<\/li>\n<li>Trim carpenter: Specialises in\u00a0mouldings\u00a0and trims, such as mantles,\u00a0skirting boards), and other ornamental\u00a0work.<\/li>\n<li>Cabinet maker: Make cabinets as well as other\u00a0furniture\u00a0such as dressers,\u00a0wardrobes, and so on.<\/li>\n<li>Ship\u2019s carpenter: Specialise in ship and boat\u00a0building.<\/li>\n<li>Framer: Specialise in the\u00a0framework\u00a0of\u00a0buildings.<\/li>\n<li>Roofer: Specialise in the\u00a0rafters,\u00a0beams\u00a0and trusses of\u00a0roof\u00a0construction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A\u00a0joiner, or\u00a0finish\u00a0carpenter, is typically not considered to be a\u00a0carpenter\u00a0(although there is some confusion and overlap between the use of the terms).\u00a0Joiners\u00a0generally specialise in lighter and more ornamental\u00a0work\u00a0than that done by a\u00a0carpenter.
